Life is perception and our response to it....

The title that I chose for this blog is from a discourse of  swami Tejomayanada of Chinmaya mission and it just pierced inside me as if he had given my thoughts a perfect expression. With my experiences of life I have come to an understanding  that everything we do, feel, think is relative. It dwells from the experiences we have accumulated by living in the school of life from many lifetimes. It's like a database of experiences from which we draw our inferences using our intellect, like a machine using artificial intelligence but far more complicated to comprehend. As long as we are alive we must respond. The nature of our response may vary based on our situation or learning's from our experiences. No one can escape this response till he's alive and the day we stop responding is the day we are dead. We choose our response based on our comprehension of a particular situation. It's an endless cycle which momentarily seems to end w...

Religion vs Dharam

Everyone who is born on this earth is a 'Sanatan Dharmi' by birth. Religion follows after wards. There isn't a word that defines religion in Sanskrit or hindi. Using 'Dharam' as translation for 'Religion' is a misnomer. Dharam doesn't mean religion, it means 'Righteous Karma'. The principle of Karma is the ultimate and absolute truth in this universe. We all humans and animals are bound by this principle and can't escape its consequences. Sanatan means 'Eternal' and 'Dharam' can be defined as 'Righteous way a man should lead his life'. Sanatan Dharam doesn't push us to pray or mandatorily believe in certain form of God, instead it lays down a path of defined principles following which we can realize God. It doesn't define any rituals or procedures to worship God, it leaves this to the discretion of humans to use their intellect to decide upon the best way they want to realize Him. It stresses on one God ...

Need vs Necessity

What is a necessity and how it differs from need, or are these two synonyms. In this post I have tried to explore these two words. I think, necessity is an absolute need without which survival would not be possible and need is relative. It keeps changing with time, situation and thinking of generations or people. Necessity remains constant for all. If I represent need and necessity by two circles, I can draw a relation between the two. A meeting point where both become interchangeable depending upon situation. Here situation is an umbrella term which includes time, people and their dependencies. Water, oxygen and food are absolute needs without which we would not be able to survive on this planet. Sun, plants are necessities and have an indirect dependents on them. We keep on inventing needs and then things to satisfy those needs. Certain needs become necessity , means of survival and vice versa. It depends in which situation we are ...

Perfection is a reflection of Perception.

When we were born, did we know what being Perfect was. We are all born in the same manner, spend equal amount of time in the incubator called womb. We are born perfect but why is that when we grow up we loose that perfection or so do we actually loose it. At least this is what the whole world is busy making us reálise, that we are not perfect. And when this world is not around, we akeep comparing ourselves, our lives with some perceived perfection the person next door is, and we ought to be like him or her. Who decides what perfection is. Some say God is perfect, who has seen God to know what perfection is. But may be, what they mean is when you reach a state of mind when you are content with what you have and are satisfied with yourself, you reach that state of ecstacy where your desires end and happiness starts. Isn't this what can be defined as a meeting point with God, where the world means nothing, neither do its fantasies fascinate us anymore, life has joy....

Can I draw a straight line.....

I feel no action is right and wrong. Its how we perceive things and actions that makes the difference. This process of forming these perceptions starts from the day we are born. Therefore, it's not only about how we interpret but how we are made to learn to interpret. How this world treats us, forms the foundation of our beliefs and our beliefs guide our feelings, perceptions, judgments towards our actions and that of others. It is because of these ingrained beliefs that we are unable to understand people who are different from us , who think differently. Our limitation of senses limits us physically as well as mentally. Sometimes societal beliefs become our beliefs or can say we knowingly or unknowingly imbibe them. How come killing someone is right for one person and wrong for other. We can't justify it with rage of the moment or revenge or any other reason. Or for that matter hurting someone or ourselves. Sometimes our perception of right and wrong is influenced b...

Do You have an answer...

This is a wake up call to all us Indians if this time we fail to free ourselves from the clutches of slavery built of selfishness and self indulgence, we don’t know when we would be able to break these chains. Please join the Lokpal bill movement fellow Indians. Remember Bhagat Singh, Tantya Tope, Shivaji...list is endless, we are their lineage friends, but today we seem to have forgotten it and have become slaves just like what we were 64 years ago. The British have left but the habit of acting like a slave still lives on within us. Wake up people, if we don't step out of our home today we will surely be ashamed of ourselves one day. Think, in the dawn of our lives when we will be sitting alone sipping that last cup of coffee and wandering down the memory lane, this question will pop up that why did I not listen to my heart. No Human pain greater than pain of Guilt, my dear friends. A 74 year old man is dying for us and we are busy watching him die slowly on TV. What i...

Concur to Conquer.....

Our dear Congress leaders need our blessings, they are suffering from a very infectious and dangerously deadly disease called 'Bhrashtachar' or Corruption. Also many narrow sighted self indulgent sick leaders have tried to malign Jan LokPal movement. Like an eminent personality had tried to enlighten us by telling that Muslims should not join this movement because this does not take care of their issues. Even a person with decent intellect would be able to understand that corruption doesn’t have a religion. It doesn’t distinguish between person’s religion, colour or creed. It affects everyone the same just like any virus or bacteria. Also just like them it needs people as their carrier to spread their effect. It derives its nourishment from the ego and greed of people. What we must understand is that corruption is like any other disease which can be and should be cured. It’s an immortal virus which can be conquered in our system through a vaccine called ‘LOKPAL'. ...
